Have you ever used a self-service kiosk, but somehow you ended up in frustration? I would like to invite you to attend my session on designing self-service kiosks. I know you’re most likely not a kiosk writer. But you are definitely a kiosk user - more so than you know. Come learn about the characteristics of kiosk users and a writing style (and some UI design along the way) that demands extreme conciseness and clarity. You can easily apply these techniques to mobile or desktop writing to provide better user experience.

For more than two decades, I have been working as a practitioner in the field of technical communication and user experience, specializing in user interface design, information architecture, usability, and HTML/CSS development. I have extensive experience in designing applications in various platforms, including Web, mobile, desktop, and self-service kiosk. Currently, I work as a senior UX designer for Sabre Corporation, a leading innovative technology company in the travel industry. I earned a Ph.D. in Technical Communication at Oklahoma State University a long time ago. My dissertation focuses on using visual metaphor in increasing usability of a hypertext system.

In the meantime, you can check out my blogs: http://uxkiosk.com and http://chiu.blog.com.
