Barbara A. Giammona has been a technical communicator for more than 30 years and a manager of technical communicators for more than 25. She is currently manager of technical publications and communications for the Process Automation division of Schneider Electric, a global energy management company. Prior to that, she was the manager of corporate IT communications for McKesson Corporation in San Francisco. She spent 10 years leading documentation efforts on Wall Street, including seven years as a vice president at Morgan Stanley in New York City.
Barbara's research into the future of Technical Communication was awarded the Frank R. Smith Award for Distinguished Technical Communication and was published in a compilation entitled Qualitative Research in Technical Communication. She is a frequent presenter on management topics at local and international STC events.
Barbara holds a BA degree in English from the University of California, Irvine, and a MS in the Management of Technology from the Polytechnic Institute of NYU. In her free time, she sings in a community choir and just completed her first novel.
Barbara is an STC Fellow and a member of the Orange County chapter.
